Oral History Interview with Marcia Newfield

Conducted as part of the Professional Staff Congress' (PSC) oral history initiative, this interview with Marcia Newfield covers experiences at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), the PSC and, most significantly, her years as the vice president for part time instructors from 2003 to 2015.

Hired as an adjunct at BMCC in 1988, Newfield juggled work at multiple colleges before becoming involved with the PSC on issues such as healthcare, contract negotiations, and adjunct pay. In speaking about her experiences, Newfield touches on a variety of topics, including the history of adjuncts at CUNY and the efforts of the New Caucus leadership beginning in 2000.
